About us
History of Young Leaders Society Pakistan (YLS-P)
In early 2020, a group of concerned young leaders, deeply troubled by the multitude of challenges facing the youth of Pakistan, came together with a shared vision of creating a platform for change. These individuals, driven by a passion for social reform and a commitment to improving the lives of their peers, initiated a series of discussions to search for solutions to the problems faced by the Pakistani youth.
During this process, the group engaged with various people serving in leadership positions across different organizations, departments, and political parties. They sought insights and guidance from seasoned professionals, community leaders, and youth advocates, gathering a wealth of knowledge and diverse perspectives. These interactions reinforced their belief in the potential of the youth to drive significant social change and solidified their resolve to create a unified movement.
Finally, on 14 August 2020, Pakistan’s Independence Day, they laid the foundations of Young Leaders Society Pakistan (YLS-P). The significance of the date was not lost on the founding members; it symbolized a new beginning, a commitment to freedom, and the determination to empower the youth of Pakistan. The 8-member founding committee unanimously elected Daniyal Abdullah and Tabish Hamid as its first President and General Secretary, respectively, recognizing their exemplary leadership skills and unwavering dedication to the cause.
In the following month, the committee approved YLS-P’s constitution and formally opened its doors for general membership. This marked the official launch of the organization, and it quickly garnered attention and support from young people across the country. The initial response was overwhelming, with enthusiastic young people signing up to be part of this transformative movement.
The Early Days
In its early days, YLS-P focused on building a strong organizational structure and expanding its reach. The founding members worked tirelessly to establish regional chapters in major cities, ensuring that the organization’s message resonated across Pakistan. They organized awareness campaigns, community service projects, and educational workshops, laying the groundwork for a vibrant and active youth community.
Milestones and Achievements
One of YLS-P’s first major initiatives was the launch of the “Education for All” campaign, aimed at addressing the widespread issue of inadequate access to quality education. The campaign mobilized volunteers to conduct surveys, distribute educational materials, and advocate for policy changes. Within a year, YLS-P had successfully partnered with several educational institutions and NGOs, significantly increasing the number of children enrolled in schools.
In 2021, YLS-P organized its first national conference, bringing together youth leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss pressing issues such as mental health, gender equality, and climate change. The conference was a resounding success, fostering meaningful dialogues and resulting in actionable recommendations that were later presented to government officials.
Building a Legacy
As YLS-P grew, it continued to expand its initiatives and programs. The organization launched digital literacy programs to bridge the technology gap, established peer support groups to address mental health challenges, and initiated tree planting drives to promote environmental conservation. Each project was driven by the collective energy and commitment of its members, who believed in the power of youth to create a positive impact.
A Vision for the Future
Today, Young Leaders Society Pakistan stands as a testament to what a group of determined young individuals can achieve. With a growing membership base and an expanding portfolio of projects, YLS-P remains committed to its mission of empowering the youth of Pakistan. The organization continues to advocate for social reform, foster leadership skills, and create opportunities for young people to thrive.
The story of YLS-P is a story of hope, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of a better future. It serves as an inspiration to all who believe in the potential of the youth to drive meaningful change and build a brighter tomorrow for Pakistan.
